How SEO can improve your bottom line

Can a high search engine ranking really cause your sales to soar and improve your bottom line?  Well that is the consensus  of marketing and web professionals who attest to the growth of businesses that are able to successfully navigate the world  of search engine optimization or SEO.  SEO involves the use of various techniques and strategies that are all aimed at  propelling your website to the top of the results page of search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

Why is SEO Important for business growth?

Well first of all, there is no point in having a website that is not getting any traffic, so directing traffic to your website is a  priority.   SEO will push traffic your way, as the experts agree that a higher ranking will result in more traffic to your website.  The truth is that most users don’t bother to look beyond the first few results on the results page, so businesses that are not on top simply will not be able to generate the type of traffic that can push sales.

How does SEO really work?

Search engines look for particular characteristics on websites.  Characteristics such as keywords, title, content, site navigation and the like, will attract the attention of the search engine.  The websites that have what the search engines are looking for will rank higher than those that don’t.

Important SEO Keys

There are several SEO keys but we are going to take a brief look at two of them, namely keywords, and content.

Knowing the right keywords to use on your website is very important.  These should relate to the product or service you offer.  The keywords are the words users tend to choose when they are searching for a particular product or service.  It is essential to include these on your website during the initial setup.  There are keyword research tools available that can help you identify the correct keywords to include.  These should relate to your brand, product, and location.

Content should be current, clear, and creative.  Content that is current is always relevant and up-to-date.   Be sure to avoid outdated information that is no longer important to the user.   One way to ensure regular update of your content is to add a blog, as this should compel you to do regular revisions.  Clear content is readable and grammatically correct.   Creative content is unique and new, you want to have just what is needed to appeal to users.

Putting it all together

Once you are able to get business leads using SEO, it is important to have the necessary tools in place to capture those leads, and generate online sales.  We spoke earlier about the importance of content in being able to retain customers, so that they become committed.  As we have seen, SEO will help you attract new customers, and this marketing method is a lot cheaper than launching a marketing campaign. New customers will translate into increased sales, and this will eventually lead to a much healthier bottom line for your business.

  • This makes everything so cmopeltely painless.

    • I was rianedg your blog and it raised a few questions with me. You were talking about companies doing nothing but focusing on being number one on the search engines, but isn’t it true that you can pay for a number one spot on certain search engines and as long as you are paying you can’t be bumped? And as far as the content goes if you can’t afford to hire a content writing company isn’t it consider fresh and new content if you post to a blog or forum that is linked to your site? SEO services is far to complicated and time consuming for just anybody to be able to do it and do it correctly, I suggest hiring an SEO service or an on-line consultant to do this instead of trying to do it yourself, would you recommend that?
